Over the years, I’ve put together what I’d like to think is a pretty impressive music collection. With around 30 separate Spotify playlists (some public, some private), each dedicated to a different genre, it’s a setup that might seem a bit over the top. Recently, though, there’s been a lot more overlap between these playlists - something I’ll get into at a later time. For now, here’s a look at the albums that have stood out the most, the ones that shaped my taste and became essentials in my collection.
Kicking off the list in 15th place is Around the Fur, an album that captures Deftones’ unique blend of aggression and atmosphere. If I’m being real, upon first listen I found Chino Moreno’s vocals absolutely horrendous, with the only way to describe his funny whispers on the album as a phone sex voice.
